Thinker Bell is a young events company that specializes in corporate event, seminars, conferences & exhibitions. They have a dedicated arm for creative personal celebrations like weddings and birthday celebrations.
Despite dealing with corporate matters, the young company wants to highlight their creativity and vibrancy. The first design brief was to be “funky”.
Conceptualization
The first step was to understand the significance of the company name. Thinker Bell came from the name of the fairy Disney character in Peter Pan, Tinkerbell. The name encompasses the theme of magic and imagination. The tweak of the name “Tinker” to “Thinker” suggests any event under Thinkerbell will be carried out with thorough planning and organization. For the client, it would be just as easy as a wave of the magic wand.
Using the idea grid approach, the related objects, ideas and concept was listed and sketched out.

It was almost an instant hit to realise the bell and lightbulb can be combined into an icon. One of the lucky instances. I was rather convinced with this approach already but always need the discipline to try out other ideas. Here are some random sketches.

The first draft sent to client received good feedback. They were attracted to the lightbulb bell idea and so we were to stick to that direction.

However the colours were a problem for one of the partners being too funky. The amended brief was to be “creative yet serious”. Pink was a bit of a overboard for her. So the second and final version was done by adjusting the colours. The icon was adjusted for better proportion and placement.
Results
One of the rare instances where the concept hit it right on spot the first time round. And everything done within one night. The wonders of pressure. But I would not like to risk that for other projects. Sometimes when the time is tight and you get the block that’s it. Well this is one ordeal prevented.
Personally satisfied with the concept. Would have preferred to stick to the original color scheme as also preferred by the first partner. But of cos we have got to consider all the decision makers’ preferences. Also, currently local market might not be able to accept corporate identity that are too bold. Hope to see this changing soon.
