A friend contacted me for a flash service of a different kind. She was looking for a special, unique and memorable birthday gift for a good friend. I think she was interested in something similar after seeing my previous montage animation.
However, all she knows is that we want a mini flash movie but has totally no idea what to put in it. Thus the scope came down to the entire conceptualization and production.
How It Works
I requested for the following
- pictures of the 3 senders of the gift and the birthday girl herself
- funny incidents or habits of the birthday girl according to these 3 friends
- Personal wishes from each of them
The Concept
The movie started showing cartoon mascots of the 3 friends entering the scene wishing the birthday girl. Their dialogue went on the complaining about some of the flaws that she has and how they love her much despite all these.
There were a few reenactment of the scenes of the “flaws” they describe to make fun of the birthday girl. Most were incidents they always tease her about.
The movie went on to a mini slide show of photos. After which there were personal messages from each of them to the birtdhay girl.
The movie was completed with some background songs from her favourite bands.
The Result
Apparently the gift was shown to her in a gathering with all of them present and she was almost touched to tears. :)
The time line was tight and much research was done reading the birthday girl’s blog and getting information from the friends. However the result was a fruitful one which brought joy to them all. It was a gift not only to the birthday girl, all the 4 girls have a personalized cartoon mascot for themselves.
One of my favourite projects by far. What’s more rewarding than bringing such personalized joy with your creation?
